Some cooler weather is on the way this weekend along with some rain.

A cold front will move across the region tonight with some showers accompanying it, though most of them should be done before midnight. High pressure builds in for Friday with developing sunshine and mild temperatures. A rather chilly night is expected Friday night with clear skies and light winds, though some clouds overnight may keep temperatures from dropping too much, Saturday will be much cooler, as east to northeast winds around the high bring cooler air in from the Atlantic. Clouds start to move back in Saturday night as another system heads our way. The models have had differing ideas with this system for a few days now, but they are finally starting to come together, but there are still some differences to work out. Some models have showers move in during the morning with steadier rain by early afternoon, while more of them keep the morning dry with the large high pressure area over eastern Canada still influencing our weather, with showers developing during the afternoon or evening, and steadier rain late in the day and into the night. We’re leaning towards the latter scenario. If you’re heading to the Patriots home opener on Sunday in Foxborough, we’re cautiously optimistic that much of the game should be dry with only a few showers around, but are aware of the possibility that it could be wetter. Rain should end early Monday, though showers may linger near the South Coast into part of the day, but high pressure will be building back in from the north with some drier air, especially north of Boston.
